One of these terms carries a body of published work behind it. The other is frequently used to borrow that work. Knowing which is which is the single most useful piece of vocabulary in this subject.
- 1.4Marketing category, regulatory category
This is the most consequential misunderstanding in the whole subject, and almost nobody selling the treatment explains it, because explaining it does not help sell the treatment.

The comparison most patients arrive with is to fillers and skin boosters. It is a useful comparison, provided the differences are set out precisely rather than in the language of category rivalry.
